Qatar Airways has made changes to its flight change policy in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The company has decided to extend the validity of its guaranteed flexibility policy. This applies to all tickets that were issued on or after March 1, 2019, and have a travel completion date before September 30, 2022. 

The updated policy allows you to have more flexibility with your plans, and you won’t have to pay any penalties. Now, you have the option to keep your ticket and use it for travel at a later date. You can also make as many changes as you need to your ticket without any additional fees. Additionally, if you prefer, you can convert your ticket into a voucher and receive a 10% bonus. 

Overview of Qatar’s New Change Flight Policy

• Your Qatar Airways ticket is now good for two years from the date it was given to you. This means that you can keep your ticket good for longer and use it for its full value as long as you finish your trip by September 30, 2022.
• You can change your trip date and destination for free as often as you need to as long as you stay in the same cabin class. 
  • Only the changes in fare, taxes, fees, and surcharges, if any, will apply. 
  • You must finish your trip before September 30, 2022, but no later than the ticket’s expanded expiration date.
• If you bought your ticket directly from Qatar Airways, you can turn the unused portion into a trip coupon with 10% more value and use it for future travel. To get a coupon in exchange for your ticket.

Qatar Airways Flight Change Fees/Cost

Qatar Airways’ policy on changing flights says that if you change your flight outside of the waiver time, you will be charged a flight change fee based on your ticket class and type of fare. Most of the time, the online change fee is between USD 66 and USD 170 per person. 

But if you change your ticket at a Qatar Airways ticket office, call center, or airport desk, you will also have to pay a service fee that starts at USD 25 and is not refunded. 

• If you booked your flight ticket with a return date before September 30, 2022, you can make as many changes as you want to it for free.
• Any flight to or from the United States can be held for 24 hours without having to pay. After you pay and get your ticket, the normal price rules will be in effect.

Rules for Qatar Airways Change Flight  

All Qatar Airways tickets are subject to the following rules for changing flights:

• To avoid paying any fees, make sure you finish your travel before September 30, 2022.
• Important: If you need to change the dates or routes of your ticket, make sure to do so at least 3 hours before your scheduled departure time.

Change Flight Policy for Privilege Club Members

If you are a Privilege Club member of Qatar Airways, the cost of changing your flight will vary based on your membership status.

• If you make changes to an award ticket at least 24 hours before your scheduled departure:
  • If you are a Platinum or Gold main member, you won’t have to pay any fees for making changes.
  • If you are a Silver or Burgundy member, or if you are traveling as a guest of a Platinum/Gold member, there will be a change fee of USD 25.
• If you make changes to an award ticket within 3 to 24 hours before the scheduled departure time:
  • If you are a Platinum or Gold main member, you won’t have to pay any change fees.
  • If you are a Silver or Burgundy member, or if you are traveling as a guest of a Platinum/Gold member, there will be a change fee of USD 100. 
• If you make changes to an award ticket less than 3 hours before the flight departs, or after the flight has already departed, it will be considered as a no-show.
  • If you don’t use your Qmiles/Avios and pay any remaining amount in cash, you will lose them.
  • Refunds will only be given for government and airport taxes.

To change your flight on Qatar Airways, you have two options: you can either do it over the phone or online. If you bought your ticket directly from Qatar Airways, you can easily change your flight online.

How to change the date of a Qatar Airways flight on the web

You can change your trip date, time, and/or location online through Manage Booking if you booked directly through Qatar Airways’ website, mobile app, ticket booth, or call center. 

• Click on My Trips or Manage Booking. 
• Enter the following information to get back to your reservation: 
  • Referance Number 
  • Last Name
• Click on the button that says Find booking.
• Click the box that says “Change flights.”
• (If the choice to change trips doesn’t show up, you can’t change your ticket online; you’ll have to go to the nearest Qatar Airways office). 
• Follow the on-screen instructions to choose your new trip and pay any change in price.

With the mobile app, you can also make changes to your Qatar Airways ticket reservation.
