Tailored Policies for Every Flight

Emirates has a pet policy that takes care of your pets really well, no matter which class you’re traveling in or where you’re going.

The Emirates team for pet travel will make sure your pet is treated well and travels without any problems, whether they travel with you in the cabin or as a checked bag.

This post will explain using Emirates Airlines’ pet travel service effectively. We have covered the conditions and travel restrictions for pets in the cabin, cargo service, and more.

Service Dogs in Cabin with Emirates

Emirates only allows service dogs and guide dogs in the cabin, and charges a pet fee for them. Also –

  • Your pets can travel with you in the cabin or as cargo in a specific area of the airplane hold, depending on the route. If you are traveling with a service dog, you will need to pay an additional baggage fee.

Flying with a Service Dog

Pets can fly directly from Dubai and European Union countries on Emirates Airlines. The travel rules are the same for flights going from Dubai to the US/Canada.  Also –

  • To fly with your dog, make sure it doesn’t block aisles or emergency exits.
  • Emirates do not allow passengers traveling with pets in the cabin to sit in the exit row seats for safety reasons.

How to Get a Service Dog on a Plane?

If you book a seat for your pet in the cabin, you need to let the company know at least 48 hours before the flight. Please talk to the Emirates, who can walk you through the basics.

Travel to and from the US

When flying to and from the US with a service animal, people need to bring –

  • Form for a service animal from the US Department of Transportation. On this form, visitors must swear to the health, training, and behavior of their animals.
  • If the flight lasts more than 8 hours, people need to fill out a US Department of Transportation Service Animal Relief Attestation Form. This is to make sure that the dog can do it in a clean way and won’t go to the bathroom on the plane.

After you’ve downloaded and filled out the forms, please bring them back here for the Emirates pet travel team to look over. The flight will then contact you and ask if you want to make sure this is confirmed before you leave.

Pet As Checked Luggage on Emirates

According to Emirates’ pet policy, falcons, cats, dogs, and pet birds can be carried as checked baggage in the hold on flights from Dubai to countries that allow animals to be brought in as extra baggage.  On top of that –

The duration of the flight: The total length of the flight must be less than 17 hours and meet all the standards. On top of that –

  • Checking in at the airport before leaving takes about an hour, and delivering the animals to the customs hall at the location takes another hour.
  • If the flight link takes more than six hours, animals going through Dubai must also be carried as cargo.

Pets Restriction on Emirates Airlines

You can bring as many dogs as you want on an Emirates trip. On top of that –

  • Two animals are allowed, but they must be at least 4 months old and used to live together. They must be the same size and weight (no more than 14kg each), and they can be moved in the same container.
  • Each animal that weighs more than 14 kg needs its own container to move.
  • Animals must be shipped through Emirates’ pet cargo service on all flights that land in Dubai, according to laws from the UAE government. And shouldn’t be allowed to be checked as luggage.

Please keep in mind, though, that some countries have limits on how many animals can enter or leave the country. For example, a customer can only bring in two pets at a time into Europe. Before you go, you should check the rules of the place you’re going.

Pet Travel Cost as Excess Baggage

The Emirates pet fee and pet box will depend on the size and weight of the animal for all trips.  Even if you don’t have any checked bags, you will still have to pay the fees. Please note that animals that are checked in as luggage can only be these sizes and weights:

Animal + cage Price (in USD)
When the animal and cage combined do not exceed 23kg and 59 inches 500
When the animal and cage combined weigh over 32kg and have dimensions between 59 -118 inches 650
When traveling to Dubai 800
When the cage dimensions exceed dimensions 118inces Cargo
When traveling into Dubai Cargo
If the total journey time exceeds 17 hours Cargo
When destined for a country that DOES NOT allow live animal as check‑in baggage Cargo

Please be aware that transporting animals costs more, requires different paperwork, and has different rates than normal extra baggage.

Important Guidelines for Transporting Animals with Emirates

Please book and pay for the Emirates flights pet travel service as hold luggage before the day you leave. On top of that:

  • There are some restrictions on what kinds of animals the Emirates will let you bring as checked luggage.
  • CITES says that pets and other animals on the list must be taken as goods.
  • Some types of cats and dogs are also banned from being brought into the country, among other things.
  • During the layover in Dubai, pets will be kept in an air-conditioned area. During the connection, the pet will not be accessible to passengers, ground handlers, or airline representatives.
  • Birds, except for some falcons, cannot pass through Dubai from May to September each year because it is too hot and humid in the UAE.
  • Emirates only allows animals to be transported if they have a health certificate and import permission from the destination country. It includes vaccination records if they are relevant.
  • Emirates Airways has a policy regarding pets. If an animal is pregnant and has completed more than one-third (1/3) of its typical pregnancy or has given birth within 48 hours of the scheduled departure, the airline will not allow it to be transported.
