Pet Travel Requirements for Domestic Flights

Here are the pet travel requirements for Frontier Airlines on domestic flights and international flights to/from Mexico and the Dominican Republic:

You need to get the rabies immunization at least 30 days before your travel, but no more than 1 year before your travel. Pets that have gotten a rabies booster shot within the last 30 days before traveling will need to show proof of the shot. 

  • Additional Country Requirements 
  • When going to the Dominican Republic or Mexico, your pet’s health certificate must say that it has been treated for bugs and is free of them.
  • Some of the recommended shots are for PIP, leptospirosis, and hepatitis.
  • In Puerto Rico, you have to use a strong collar and two ID tags. The tags must have the full contact information for the owner, like their fixed home and phone number.
  • When going to or from Canada, cats and dogs must have a rabies shot and a health certificate written in English or French by a qualified doctor.
    • The health certificate must say what kind of pet it is when it was vaccinated when it was made, and when it will expire.
    • Along with other paperwork, the health certificate must say that the person has been treated for parasites.
  • Emotional support animals will no longer be allowed to fly for free. Instead, they will have to follow Frontier Airlines’ pet policy and follow all limits.
  • Trained support dogs can travel for free in the passenger area with their owners.
  • There can only be one pet cage per person.
